More Work?

Being a Mom is a full time job, so why would you want to get more work? Well for starters no matter how rewarding it is to work with your kids and to see them make daily progress, there is also a need to get paid in cash. Some families are lucky and have no trouble with money, but the majority of us will agree that a little extra cash is always welcome.

If you have chosen to stay at home and look after your kids, it does not mean that you are destined to not earning your own money. There are a number of things that you can do sitting at home that can help you pick up some extra cash along the way. Here I'd like to give you some ideas for work from home businesses which have worked well for other mothers in the past.

So after you pack off your kids for a while to school and finish the cooking and the household chores you can get down to setting up a small business from your home. You don't even need to rent office space, as you can operate right out of your virtual office on the internet. Of course as with any business some initial investment is required, but just get the basics that you need to function and get started making money.

Make money at home with these businesses

Home Business Idea Number 1

Freelance online at the skill that you already have. For instance if you have a background in journalism you can be a freelance writer. Or start a blog on something that you know a lot about. A simple blog with a good niche and interesting content can be a real money spinner. Of course you do need some help setting up the site and a bit of investment for the hosting et al.

Home Business Idea Number 2

Baby Sitting or Creche is a great idea if your kids are still small and at home most of the day. This way you can take care of your kids and help out other working mothers with their kids and get paid for it. Of course it would only work if you really love children a lot and actually want to spend time with them. If you are looking at a business venture which gets you a break from your own kids, this may not be ideal for you.

Home Business Idea Number 3

Multilevel Marketing is also a good idea to consider. Sure you won't become a millionaire overnight, but you will have a little stream of money coming in on a regular basis. Pick a company with care and in a field which you are familiar. For instance if you use cosmetics and are passionate about make up you will enjoy working as a beauty consultant. Or if you feel greatly about maintaining a healthy lifestyle you can become a lifestyle coach.

Home Business Idea Number 4

Cooking is also a passion and a talent which can convert well into a small side business. A person I know sells desserts made to order. So any one having a party in the neighborhood just gives her a buzz and she delivers the pudding. She even gets the dishes back to reuse for the next pudding, saving on a constant investment. Of course if you break the dish you pay for it. It is a incredibly simple but highly effective small business based on her cooking skills.

Home Business Idea Number 5

Candle Making is a simple skill to master. If you are artistically inclined you can pick up a candle making kit and get to work right away. Make up your own designs of floating candles, taper candles, beeswax candles and you are ready. You can sell the candles in any local gift shop in town. Or if you don't want to tie up with anyone you can sell them online on eBay or Amazon. Setting up a virtual shop is very simple with these two sites and selling was never easier.

These five ideas are just the tip of the small home business iceberg. Other ideas can include becoming a travel agent, business consultant, costume designer, dance instructor, dating service or match making operator, dog walker, yoga trainer, interior decorator, desktop publisher, bill payment service, turn key housekeeping service, party planner, plant nursery, pregnancy exercise coach, and so many more things.

Great ideas cashmere. Personally I'd love to have been able to be a stay at home mom. Unfortunately I don't have the imagination, the ability to stick to it, or the intestinal fortitude to do it.

I need structure and deadlines, and seem to be unable to make them myself.

I have a great deal of respect for those who manage to make money while staying at home.

I'm glad you all liked the ideas Mama Sez, lovelypaper, koffeklatch gals and senderz.

Duchess OBlunt I know just what you mean. Some moms get too lost in the kids angle to have the time for any side venture. I was one of them till I saw how a dear friend (Reena Daruwalla)managed with her two babies and still worked from home.

That inspired me to give it a shot, and with her help I'd say I am fairly successful today at juggling my online writing work and my duties as a mom.

I think a good option is affiliate marketing... for example you can try to sell the day off diet on clickbank and you make $25 for each sale.

Trusted Marketing, I have not heard of Nicole Dean before, will Google . Thanks for the tip.

fdoleac doesn't blogging for realtors and insurance people need some prior knowledge of the laws of the country? Plus Moms tend to find such stuff boring! I know I do.

All the best cameciob, I hope you find your best mix. Maybe you could start the candle making business along with your day job, and once it perks up quit the day job?

Kj8 that is right out of the crech idea! See folks it works in real life too.

Click on ads by google and it will take you to google's page where you will find the option to report it to google....It will get the concerned person's adsense banned!!But to remove your work from there you will have to contact the particular person!!

cashmere profile image

cashmere Hub Author 23 months ago

How did you find this? And there seems to be no contact id on the site to get in touch with the person.

englightenedsoul profile image

englightenedsoul 23 months ago

I found it from the forums(titled another scraper) and yea there is nothing we can do to contact this person except for contacting google. And If you wondering how to contact google just click on google ads not on any ads you see just click on "ads by google"...it will take you to a page where you can report it for copyright issue

Thanks, I have telecommuted for the past ten years for various companies. There are great opportunities out their for legitamate work, just remember if you choose to work at home through telecommuting your children need to either be old enough to watch themselves or at school( I have even had mom's telecommuting with a babysitter watching the kids). Telecommuting for major companies is a real job and as such companies that hire telcommuters are sticklers for noice, and no children. However when my child was younger I too did a in home day care and I manage to have the best of both worlds without my children suffering and the added benefit of having someone to play with!

Mompreneurs have great insights into marketing gaps and the effort they put in to juggle their time to balance home and business is really amazing. Cheers to all the moms who give it a go! If your a dab hand at sewing, I've noticed a pretty simple idea/trend recently of people making cute little covers, bags and soft sleeves for peoples gadgets. You could probably find cheap offcuts and some discounted trimmings and your away. I've seen some selling for $80!

They can't be too hard to do as most of them are a simple rectangle in shape!
