Top Ten Oh My God Moments - OMG

There are times in your life that you really want to say it. Those three little words that show the impact the situation has made on you - "Oh My God!"

Everyone must have their favourite OMG Moments, and here I list out a few common ones.

The OMG #1

The first has to be when one is quite young and still in school. This is the time one realizes that there are girls and there are boys. And that "OMG I am a girl" (or in the case of male readers "OMG I am a boy".) It is one of the most defining OMG moments of your life. All your behaviour patterns henceforth will be based on this OMG Moment.

The OMG # 2

The second OMG Moment follows the first one quite naturally. It is the time one realizes that you have a crush on some one. Its the "OMG I'm in love" realization. Only at that point of time it seems like true love and that too star crossed true love. Thankfully this OMG Moment kind of drifts into a series and the concept of love does not get restricted to just one person all through school.

The OMG # 3

Soon the school time finishes and college sets in. Here there will be the "OMG I need to discover myself" series of OMG Moments. Do I like to drink? Dare I experiment with drugs? How much do I love my parents? Can I really cope with my studies? One discovers strenghts and weaknesses as yet unknown in self.

The OMG # 4

This is a biggie, "OMG I got a job!" It is very difficult to take the feelings here and distill them into words. It is one OMG moment that you will savour for as long as you shall live. The first job you ever earned. You may hate the work after a month and wonder why you were ever excited about working but that OMG moment will stay with you forever.

The OMG # 5

Then life marches on and you get used to the way things are, till one fine day you realize, "OMG I'm alone!" I don't want to go through life alone. So here begins the hunt for the soul mate. The life partner with whom you must spend the rest of your life. The person from whom you have a hundred expectations even before you meet.

The OMG # 6

Again this one usually hits you just the night before. Despite having planned for the event for more than a year its time for "OMG I'm getting married." It usually results in a full blown panic attack and may affect the wedding. In most cases the friends and family are able to convince you its just pre wedding nerves and the saga continues.

The OMG # 7

This is a logical progression "OMG I'm pregnant" yes the guys version is the same! The reactions may differ though. Of course there is joy, but there is also a solid dose of responsibility of the kind that one has never handled before. It is a whole new life that you will be taking care of. Quite a sobering OMG moment this one can be.

The OMG # 8

The next decade or so keeps you busy with life and your new responsibilities. Then one day you look in the mirror and see gray hair. "OMG Where did the time go?" Here's the beginning of the midlife crisis. You feel life is passing you by and you never got to do anything that you had on your wish list. It is the time that women color their hair and men buy sports cars to feel young.

The OMG # 9

As you hold the invitation card in your hand you wonder "OMG How fast they grow." Your children are married and you have the empty nest syndrome. You are now free to pursue all your own hobbies and now that you have the time, you don't have the will. Life has sneaked up on you and given you some aching muscles and bones.

The OMG # 10

The tiny baby in your arms brings home your immortality to you, "OMG I'm a grand ma or pa!" This is the second chance to enjoy childhood. To spend time with the lovely soul who will live when you are no more. Carrying a bit of your DNA forward with her. It can be a sobering thought as the next OMG is that life has run its course!

Then there is the final OMG Life is beautiful!
