Weightloss Diets I have heard about
The fact that people want to lose weight and look good is an ancient one. The second fact that they tend to do this by dieting is also old. So what's new? It is there really weird things that people eat to lose weight! Here's a collection of some sensible, some funny and some downright weird diets that people have tried out. Weird diets that work or at least claim to work include these examples given below.
3 Apple a Day Diet
In this diet you are expected to eat an apple before breakfast, lunch and dinner. Supposed to help you break away from a weighloss plateau. Of course you have to eat low fat food in the meals that follow the apples as well, so don't start celebrating just yet.
Apple Cider Vinegar Diet
Apple Cider is made by apple juice being fermented with yeast and sugar. In this diet you are supposed to drink 2-3 teaspoons of this Apple Cider Vinegar "tonic" before you eat your meals. There is little evidence to support it works.
Banana Diet
This one came from Japan. You are expected to eat only raw bananas and room temperature water for breakfast. You can have what you like for lunch and dinner. And make sure you finish dinner before 8 pm. No alcohol or dairy products allowed.
Beverly Hills Diet
Based on food combining principle some days you eat only vegetables, other only fruits and on some starch carbonates are allowed. It is ridiculously low on daily calorie intake and is usually around 800 calorie for the day.
Blood Type Diet
What's your blood group? A, B, AB or O? Based on the blood group you are supposed to eat differently. In my family I am B, my husband is O and my son is AB, so do I need to cook three separate meals for us all?
Cabbage Soup Diet
A seven day diet which involves surviving on cabbage soup plus some accepted additives to the diet per day. Not allowed to eat any bread, drink any alcohol or carbonated beverages during the whole week.
Chocolate Diet
No it does not say eat chocolate and lose weight! Although I half wish it did...Here you need to restrict your food calorie intake to 1000 calories per day so that you have a 50- 300 calorie chocolate allowance. And you need to exercise...every day!
Egg Diet
Get all your proteins from eggs. Use hard boiled eggs for your meals. There is one variation which says that you need to eat the eggs just for breakfast and follow up with low cal lunch and dinner.
French Women Don't Get Fat
No foods are off limits. The only limit is the proportion that you get to eat. And yes of course you have to survive on the magic leek soup for the weekends. So what can eat plenty of to kill those hunger pangs? Yogurt it seems is the answer.
Grapefruit Diet
Half a Grapefruit before every meal or if you prefer four ounces of Grapefruit juice. Plus a list of restrictions on what you can eat for the actual meal. Supposed to run in 12 day cycles with 2 days off in between.
Juice Diet
The liquids only diet is a total crash dieting system. Unrecommended for sustained and healthy weight loss, but yet you will lose weight on this one. Includes vegetable juices, fruit juices, skimmed milk and lots of water.
Martini Diet
Want to be a snob about your diet go for this one. No snacking on this one although you can get your one martini a day. You are also expected to eat portions no bigger than what fits into a three ounce martini glass.
No White Food Diet
No rice, no flour, no sugar, no butter, no salt, no potato and nothing which includes any of these items. So you can have some skimmed milk but that's the only white thing you are allowed to eat. Plus you need to do some exercise.
Oat Meal Diet
Half cup oatmeal three times a day. Of course you have a calorie restriction of 1200 calories per day for the rest of the meal as well. Plus you need to consume half cup raw vegetables and half cup fruit in the day.
Shangri-La Diet
You are expected to drink light olive oil or sugar water in between your regular low calorie meals up to 300 calories per day. This is supposed to act as an appetite suppressant. And there is no mandatory daily exercise involved.

I don't believe in a diet as such because when you come off you put it on again. I think smaller portion is the answer.
Hello, hello, that's exactly right! People get so hung up on 'diets' when really they need a lifestyle change. They need to eat 5-6 smaller meals a day instead of 2-3 big ones, and they need to get their butts off of the couch and do something!
Great information - and fun!
You know I am blood type A and I find eating certain foods have been beneficial in my old age. I am never supposed to eat meat and chicken and I don't - gave it up over 30 years ago (few people in America know their blood type) before I knew about eating right for your blood type. But unlike many of my peers I do not have their ailments. I think if I did force myself to eat the American diet which is meat based I would have chronic ailments like diabetes and high blood pressure and eye problems and arthritis, etc.
The mistake we made here in the US was learning to count calories - which means junk food with calorie labels - we should be more interested in nutritional value - but we know nothing about healthy eating.
Great hub here. I must bookmark and share!
This was really interesting. No wonder we're confused!
Wow, there sure are a lot of diets out there. What I find interesting is that a major contributor to weight gain is the growth hormones in the meat people eat and the pesticides in our fruits and vegetables that throw our metabolisms so out of alignment that the body can't handle it. If people would push for, and eat, organic foods without all the junk and chemicals in them, the obesity rate would be cut substantially. Cashmere, thanks for doing all the research on this one. It's an eye opener.
I've done the Apple Cider Vinegar Diet. Drinking the vinegar was actually quite pleasant but all I got was an incredible allergic rash that lasted for more than a week. I don't know for sure if the allergy and the vinegar diet were linked but the allergy stopped when I stopped drinking the vinegar.
By the way, I didn't loose any weight :(
It is a good and useful hub. Thanks.
Another great hub! I am going around reading all these hubs and diets and never realized just how many different diets I have already tried.
In your lists of diets I recognized Apple Cider Vinegar Diet, Cabbage Soup Diet and Grapefruit Diet. How I missed the martini diet I will never know.
Great Job,
Sage
Thanks for sharing these weird diets.
Cashmere, it is interesting to read all the diets in one place. Lol we humans are obsessed with the way we look and are ready to try any diet that works. Have you noticed the word diet has the word "die" in it first. No matter how much I hate the word itself have to restrict certain foods and yeah portion control is very important for long term results. Thumbs up for this hub.
Hello cashmere. Balance is best, or going back to basics works. No processed food, no fruit juice, no sodas. Fruit and vegies and smaller portions. It works.
With all the different diets, it's no wonder people are lost in the maze of dieting.
I find this info interesting! Here's the diet plan of the stars: http://www.eliteweightlosspackage.com/
very weird and some wonderful tips! thanks for sharing!;)
I've tried the Shangri-La Diet and it does work. The only problem for me is just as soon as that oil hits the back of my throat I start to gag. :)
Very interesting and entertaining. I knew there were so,e waky diets out there but had not heard of most of these.
its pretty interesting how people have managed to come up with all of these weird and off beat diets.
3 apple a day is the one that some of my friends tried and it worked very well for them.
lol that was a great post! I have heard of a lot of those. My favorite is the apple a day keeps the doctors away! I also heard about wine drinking?? I think its called the french paradox or something??
Healthy Slimming begins with healthy diet. Perfectly balanced with wholesome nutrition, Slimlife is a meal in itself that powers your daily dose of nutrition. To incorporate a healthy diet, maintain your weight or for general well being.
Thank you for sharing..This is interesting!
People miss to eat a healthy meal and miss physical activity and start taking measures which will give temporary relief and then go back to sedentary lifestyle again...
I believe that They may not need such diet if they take up physical activity daily and avoid junk food on the longer run
cheers,
Biglee
Hi cashmere
My favorite is the 3 apples a day diet. While I don't do it everyday, once a week I will follow this. It's fun. And it's eye opening reading all these weird diet too. Thanks.
I guess just food diet can't make people loosing substantial amount of weight. It needs to be mixed with regular free hand exercise if someone does not prefer going to gym, and proper or balance diet where all the essential nutrients will be present!
Anyways thanks for your informative hub. Even though i do not follow that much :p
is your son adopted? if the parents are B and O he should either be B or O, where is the A coming from?
