Supplement the School
The teacher in the class room has little time to cover the syllabus with her students. Enough extra activities eat into her precious time with the class.
It is not possible for one individual to pay attention to the special needs of each child in her class. This is where the parents must step in and help the teacher. After all both want the best for the children.
The role of the parent is a supportive one to the teacher. Education is not merely the book learning that the child must have.
It is also a set of life skills that he needs to learn to survive in the world today. While it is important to know how to add numbers, it is equally important to know how to add friends as well.
The trouble is that most parents do not have the time that is needed to sit down and develop worksheets or quality activities that will be personality enhancing. This is where the websites on the internet can really can really come in handy.
There is so much useful information available online. It is amazing what all you can find if you just know where to look.

Very informative ...good job
4blackyouth.com is one of the best websites out for career information and online tutors. It's called 4blackyouth,but it's good information for any student who is making career decisions
I'm sure these will prove invaluable for many parents.
This is a great hub for people with kids. A wealth of helpful information all in one location. Great job, cashmere!
If you enjoyed Cashmere's list, you would probably also enjoy Improve-Education.org.
Some people opine that creating the comparison essay writing can be not hard, but I argue that the only masters custom writing services could compose the custom term papers of supreme quality.
congrats. Keep up the good work.
My thanks to you on behalf of all the children, parents and teachers of the world.
May God bless you.
Have a nice day.
This is a wonderful list. There are two other great Kids sites that feature Educational material that I think will be good to add.
This hub is very informative and helpful. Greatr hub.
You missed two big ones in my opinion:
www.teach-nology.com
www.mathworksheetsworld.com
I believe that the internet has so much power to supplement kids' learning at school. However, with such power we should be cautious as well of the repercussions because it can be a source of unwanted information as well.
Great resources. I have also found that Reading Horizons has great free resources.
Check out Tutorgiant.com for free assessments and hundreds of math and English videos with worksheets.
Thank you for all the great resources. This is simply great.
That's a ton of helpful educational resources. Excellent hub.
Good work
This website is a fantastic and the coolest webite that I have have ever seen.Excellent work.
Nice Hub very helpful for kids
Thanks for the useful page on the Best Educational Websites.
For high school internet resources, I would go to your state's Department of Education website and find links to online tests. Most states are now administering minimum competency tests, and you probably can find examples of these tests and/or practice tests online. There is a lot of controvercy surrounding the use of exit exams, but I think these sites are still useful in understanding what each state expects high schoolers to know by graduation time - fair or not. Below are a few links to high school state testing help
This is a great list. I'm going through it to see what will work with my class and my children. Great hub.
very useful resources. thanks for sharing
Many educational websites are used as tools for students to learn outside of the classroom. Parents are assisting their children due to an overwhelming amount of students in the typical classroom. If you find these websites to be beneficial to your children then check out Forest Trail Academy to help pursue their continued education.
very information, I forwarded this information to my students.
very useful hub-page. nice work .
Excellent information.....all very useful and handy.Thanks.
Very informative post. Good job. You can also be interested on this site www.bdeduarticle.com

Hi Cashmere.
My comment applies to the "Specifically for the Educator" area.. Anyone who needs to teach Spanish language to pre-school kids may want to check out http://spanishforpreschoolers.com/. It's a comprehensive guide to the methods that work.
Cheers,
Ben
Great overview. I have looked at some of these with my daughter and some will definitely help with mathematics.
Another usefull resource is www.typekids.com My daughter used this cours to learn touch typing.
Thanks Cashmere for stating the importance of the parents' roll in their child's education, and how they can participate and help their child succeed in school.
This is a fantastic hub, especially for parents. You really nail how important participation is in parenting.
You might like this resource. It's a STEM education site for kids and parents to do projects together at home. http://rollingrobots.com/STEM-education-projects
Check out this website khanacademy.org. It is one of the best new ideas and execution in field of education. I promise you that it will not disappoint. The websites founder recently spoke at a TED conference as well.
Hey Cahsmere,
Great list, thanks for putting this together.
Check out www.gosocialstudiesgo.com. It's pretty unique.
Really good information. Another good and free website for Math and Olympiad preparation is http://www.edugain.com
Everyone with school age kids should consider bookmarking: http://www.formulaconversion.com/ It is a great metric to english conversion site, but unlike others it shows you the algebraic steps to go from one unit to another which is great for learning!
Hi ,
Please do review www.makemegenius.com .My kids find this site very useful for their science lessons.
Hi Tina, my kids loved www.makemegenius.com.Best thing is now I have to spend less time on weekend ont heir studies as we found all their Science book is covered here. Thanks again (yeah voice-over could had been better)
In Indian context, which website you suggest. The purpose is academic education, I have two kids ,one studies in 4 th & other in 6 th. Have checked www.pitara.com,www.learnnext.com as well as as www.makemegenius.com. Whereas pitara is not for academics ,learnext is for 6th onwards & also charges huge money for a poor content. makemegenius was closer to what I was looking for ,but kids get bored by watching same video again & again although it helped them to understand the concepts. Do you have any knowledge about any site for maths (same to www.makemegenius.com which is for science education) or any other website which can cater to Indian children? Thanks for help
Check out http://www.w3kids.com.
This is a nice website for kids.
ZooWhiz www.zoowhiz.com is all new and would be a great addition to your listing. It is FREE and covers math, reading, spelling, punctuation, grammar and more for kids aged 5 - 15. It s highly motivational, curriculum correlated and growing in popularity rapidly.
hi ,have gone through all of the newly suggested sites ,zoowhiz.com,w3kids.com & http://www.makemegenius.com. Found 1st one good for Maths & English for K12 kids ,2nd one good activities for pre- primary kids & last one for science learning for K12 children. The 1st & 2nd has great designs on austhetics wise ,they score great but content is too much common also on 1st one it is paid, the 3rd one is basic in design but host something new & content is very vast. These are my personal views.
khanacademy.org is awesome! It has a lot of free videos. It was featured on 60 minutes today. A lot of people have started using a "flipped classroom" idea where kids go home and watch the videos and then come to class ready to work on problems. Therefore, class time is the independent working time where the teacher is just giving feedback and correcting any mistakes. This has been a method that has been very effective, as most of the learning takes place when kids are confronted with mistakes in their way of thinking.
I wouldn't argue that it's MORE effective, as there is no space for a student to ask questions if they don't understand the video. However, I would say that it is a good tool.
@freemarketing & casmere -would agree with you on importance of videos. For kids, would not recommend Khan Academy ,as for little grown-ups that works fine For kids would recommend sites like http://www.brainpop.com & http://www.makemegenius.com where Videos have been made in animation form keeping the needs of young children in mind.
very information, I forwarded this information to my students.
Thanks for your information. This would help most of the parents and teachers to train their kids in an effective way. I feel that your listing can be added with few other preschool activities website like http://bforball.com Certainly there are various activities included for kids in the website.
good ones, found www.makemegenius.com best for Indian kids.To the point, no games, easy to understand language
It's a very very usefull hub ! Thank you ! ;)
